Alabama Bolsters Offensive Arsenal with Five-Star Tackle Ty HaywoodAlabama Bolsters Offensive Arsenal with Five-Star Tackle Ty Haywood Alabama’s pursuit of offensive firepower continues unabated with the commitment of five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood (Denton, Texas). This addition comes a day after the Crimson Tide secured five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham for their 2025 class. Haywood, ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 11 overall player nationally by 247sports, becomes the highest-rated commit for Alabama’s 2025 class. He announced his decision via Twitter on Sunday, opting for the Tide over Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and others. With Haywood’s commitment, Alabama’s 2025 class now boasts 22 pledges, including five composite five-star players, 10 top 100 prospects, and 19 blue-chip recruits. The Tide have been among the most active teams on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, with four commitments in July. Haywood, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, visited Alabama only once for an official visit in May and June. However, the experience left a lasting impression that convinced him to commit a month later. He joins a stellar offensive line class that includes four-star recruits Michael Carroll, Micah DeBose, and Jackson Lloyd, as well as three-star Mal Waldrep. Collectively, these players provide a complete offensive line unit, with two tackles (Haywood and Lloyd) and three interior linemen (Carroll, DeBose, and Waldrep). This impressive haul reflects the efforts of position coach Chris Kapilovic, hired in late February. The shortage of offensive linemen was a major talking point during spring practice, leading to the addition of two players during the spring portal window and the departure of center James Brockermeyer. As the 2024 season approaches, Alabama has 14 offensive linemen on scholarship, primarily freshmen and sophomores in eligibility. Offensive line was a top priority for this year’s class to replenish depth and add high-level talent. The Tide have been largely successful in this endeavor, with an average rating of 94.68 out of 99.99 for their five offensive lineman commits, as per 247sports. Overall, Alabama remains a contender for the No. 1 recruiting class nationally heading into the fall. They currently rank second behind Ohio State, but they hold the highest average player rating in the country at 94.44.

Alabama continues to reload its offensive star power with the commitment of five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood (Denton, Texas) just a day after the Crimson Tide added five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham to its 2025 class.

Haywood, the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 11 player in the nation according to the 247sports composite rankings, is now the highest-rated commit in the 2025 class. He announced his commitment via X on Sunday, choosing Alabama over Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and others.

As it stands now, Alabama’s 2025 class has 22 commitments: five composite five-star players, 10 top 100 players and 19 blue-chip prospects (four and five-stars). The Tide have been one of the hottest teams nationally on the recruiting trail with four commitments in the month of July.

Haywood, 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, only visited Alabama once β€” during an official visit from May 31 to June 2 β€” and it left enough of an impression that he committed a month later.

Haywood joins arguably the best offensive line class nationally alongside four-stars Michael Carroll, Micah DeBose, Jackson Lloyd and three-star Mal Waldrep. Theoretically, Alabama’s collected an entire offensive line unit with two tackles (Haywood, Lloyd) and three interior linemen (Carroll, DeBose, Waldrep). It’s an impressive first haul for position coach Chris Kapilovic who wasn’t hired until late February but has quickly landed premier talent at multiple positions.

The shortage of numbers at the offensive line was one of the leading storylines of spring practice, prompting the coaching staff to add two players in the spring portal window while losing center James Brockermeyer. Entering the 2024 season, Alabama has 14 offensive linemen on scholarship, with the majority being only freshmen or sophomores in eligibility.

Offensive line was a priority position in this year’s class to replenish the numbers and add high-level talent, which has been largely successful to this point. The average rating of the five offensive lineman commits is 94.68 out of 99.99 according to 247sports.

Holistically, there’s legitimate momentum for Alabama to challenge for the No. 1 recruiting class nationally entering the fall. It’s currently No. 2 to Ohio State, but the Tide holds the highest average player rating nationally at 94.44.
