Chris McCullough showcased his form with 23 points and seven rebounds, contributing to the Philippine club’s 2-0 lead in the tournament. McCullough and Tajuan Agee orchestrated a dominant first quarter, leading to a decisive start. Gilas’ Ange Kouame added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Agee contributed 14 points, four rebounds, and two blocks. Jordan Heading led the Filipino contingent with nine points. BSBL’s top scorer was Jesse Ghee with 19 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Atem Bior with 14 points. Strong Group boasts several PBA rookie hopefuls, including RJ Abarrientos, Caelan Tiongson, and Dave Ildefonso, who are eager to impress teams in the upcoming Draft on Sunday. The Filipinos aim to secure their third win against Ukraine on Monday.

MANILA, Philippines — Strong Group Athletics continued to dominate the 43rd William Jones Cup after recording another lopsided victory over Australia’s BSBL Guardians, 91-69, in Taipei on Sunday.

Chris McCullough continued his good form and scored 23 points and seven rebounds, as the Philippine club started the tournament with a 2-0 lead.

McCullough and Tajuan Agee combined for a dominant first quarter (34-10) and a win from start to finish after their 104-79 victory over the United Arab Emirates. The former led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

PROGRAM: Strong group athletics at Jones Cup 2024

Naturalized Gilas Ange Kouame also scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Agee had 14 points, four rebounds and two blocks.

Jordan Heading was the best Filipino player with nine points, sending BSBL to its second straight defeat.

The Australian club counted on Jesse Ghee, who had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Atem Bior added 14 points.

Strong Group has three aspiring PBA rookies: RJ Abarrientos, Caelan Tiongson and Dave Ildefonso, all of whom hope to be selected by teams in the ongoing Draft on Sunday in Manila.

The Filipinos are aiming for their third win against Ukraine on Monday at 5pm
