A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a gas explosion on a boat in North Wales. Emergency services were called to the incident in Porth Penrhyn, Bangor, in the early afternoon of Saturday 13 July.

A fire department spokesman said a call was received at 1.37pm about a boat fire and four fire engines were sent to the scene. Police have now confirmed that both emergency services are at the scene and that the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an incident in Porth Penrhyn, Bangor. Emergency services were called to the marina to deal with a fire caused by a gas explosion on a boat.

“A man was subsequently taken to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. Police and firefighters remain on scene as our investigation continues. Thank you to residents for their continued support and patience while we are at the scene.”
