Seven winners shared in last month’s $50 million jackpot. One of the winning couple’s children, who wished to remain anonymous, said the family had organized a gathering to celebrate the good news.

“They’ve been slowly doing some work on the house and now they can afford to finish the renovation,” the child said of the winning parents.

“We really want them to do something for themselves. They’ve been talking about a special overseas trip for a long time and now that they can do that, it will be great for them,” said another child.

It took two weeks for the family to hear that they had won first prize.

“Since we don’t buy tickets all the time, we usually only check them when we think about it. We weren’t in a hurry,” said the winning man.

A few weeks passed and the man remembered the ticket, which was in his wife’s handbag for safekeeping. He took it out and scanned it with the MyLotto app.

“The app told me I had won a big prize and that I should take the ticket to a Lotto store. I wasn’t sure how much I had won… but I had a feeling it was a big amount.”

The husband hid their ticket back in his wife’s handbag so they could check it when they went shopping the next day. Before they went shopping, they took their winning ticket to the Lotto counter.

“They told us we had won $7 million. We were so excited!” he said.

Two of them had already claimed their share of the first prize the next day, on Sunday, June 9, but it was not until last week that the eventual winner came forward and collected his share of the winnings.
