The Social Security and National Insurance Trust has put the brakes on the proposed sale of a 60% stake in four of its hotels to a private entity owned by Ghana’s Food and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

SNNIT’s statement, issued just before midnight on Friday, July 12, came hours after the minister’s company, Rock City Hotel, also announced that it had withdrawn from the transaction due to stakeholder opposition.

The short statement, signed by SSNIT Board Chair Elizabeth Ohene, who had earlier defended the deal, said the process had ended.
