FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — A trooper is recovering after a driver crashed into two emergency vehicles on a busy northern Arizona freeway on Thursday night.
According to the Department of Public Safety, DPS troopers were investigating a collision on Interstate 40 near Lone Tree Road around 9 p.m. As they were at the scene, another driver who was passing through the area crashed into a fire department and DPS vehicle, authorities said. No one was inside the vehicles during the crash.
DPS says a trooper was injured while trying to avoid being struck by the vehicles. Authorities are investigating if the driver was impaired at the time of the collision.
