Tasmania’s Housing Crisis: Liberal-Lambie Coalition Fails to DeliverTasmania’s Housing Crisis: Liberal-Lambie Coalition Fails to Deliver Despite the introduction of Housing Supply Orders in 2018, the Liberal-Lambie coalition has failed to address Tasmania’s housing shortage. According to the Shadow Minister for Housing, Shane Broad, only six out of 1,000 homes eligible for approval have been built under the fast-track policy, resulting in an abysmal rate of one house per year. This failure has exacerbated Tasmania’s housing crisis, leaving residents in dire need of affordable and social housing. The coalition’s inability to deliver on its promises has resulted in an unmitigated failure, denying Tasmanians the homes they desperately require. Broad emphasizes the need for a government that prioritizes the provision of housing for all. The Liberal-Lambie coalition’s failure to address this urgent issue highlights its inability to meet the needs of the Tasmanian people. With the state facing a severe housing shortage, it is essential to elect a government that is committed to delivering the affordable and social housing that Tasmania so desperately needs.

Labor questions have revealed that the Liberal-Lambie coalition has failed to deliver the social and affordable housing Tasmania needs.

Earlier today, Housing and Planning Minister Felix Ellis confirmed that only six homes have been built out of the 1,000 eligible for approval through the Housing Land Supply Orders.

That number has been the same since March, so it’s probably time to stop using the term “fast-track.”

The Housing Supply Orders were introduced in 2018 to address Tasmania’s housing shortage. This means the Liberals have succeeded in building one house per year under the fast-track policy. This is not a solution, it is an unmitigated failure.

Tasmania is facing a serious housing crisis. The state is crying out for more supply and we cannot afford a Liberal-Lambie government that has failed to deliver for years.
