Raymond L. WingertRaymond L. Wingert Raymond L. Wingert, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away on July 8, 2024, at his home. Born in St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, on April 25, 1934, Raymond was the son of Edward and Esther Wingert. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Raymond worked in construction before joining United Parcel Service, where he remained for 25 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer for over 50 years, earning many victories and course records. Raymond dedicated his life to his family and was a constant source of support. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years, Janet; his brother, Marvin; his son, Steve; his daughter, Pam Fleishell (husband Jim); three grandsons, Logan (wife Carrie), Justin, and Kyle; one granddaughter, Lacie; and two great-grandsons, Wyatt Ray and Chase. Funeral arrangements The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church, 8204 Ft. McCord Rd., Chambersburg. Pastor Stan McCammon will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. The burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed on the funeral home’s website. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to offset expenses.

He was born on April 25, 1934, in St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward and Esther Wingert.

He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1952. Raymond served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked in construction for several years and then went to the United Parcel Service, where he worked for 25 years until he retired.

He pursued his passion, golf, for over 50 years, earning him numerous victories and course records at Great Cove Golf Course and other area courses.

Raymond dedicated his life to caring for his family and was always there for each one of them. He was a man who touched and inspired countless people in his life.

Dad, you will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Love, your family.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet Wingert, brother Marvin Wingert of Carlisle, son Steve Wingert of Ft. Loudon, and daughter, Pam Wingert Fleishell (husband Jim) of Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by three grandsons, Logan Wingert (wife Carrie) of Edenville, and Justin and Kyle Gilbert of Virginia, granddaughter Lacie Wingert of St. Thomas, as well as great-grandsons, Wyatt Ray Wingert and Chase Talhelm.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church8204 Ft. McCord Rd., Chambersburg, with Pastor Stan McCammon officiating.

The family will receive friends at the churchh from 9:00 to 11:00 am

The funeral will take place after the funeral service on St. Thomas Cemetery.
