Both appeals will be heard by the Supreme Court in the provincial capital on Thursday.

At the time of the attack, both men were members of the Victoriaville team in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. The club was celebrating after winning the championship trophy on June 5, 2021.

The victim, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, was an employee of the Quebec City-area hotel where the team stayed during the 2021 playoffs. She had befriended Daigle when he and his teammates stayed at the hotel for about a month prior to their victory.

She had initially declined an invitation from team members to join their party. She had also initially declined Daigle’s request to join him in his room, citing hotel policy. But later that evening, after she had left work, Daigle messaged her again and convinced her to return to the hotel.

The victim agreed to visit the room alone with Daigle, but when she arrived she found that Siciliano, whom she did not know, was also there. She said she felt trapped before being attacked by both of them, sometimes simultaneously, for about 40 minutes.

At that time, Daigle filmed the woman without her knowledge.

Both men pleaded guilty in October, ahead of trial.
