A world-renowned restaurant known for its signature butter-poached steaks and duck fat fries is coming to Palm Beach County.

The Seagate Hotel & Spa has announced that it will soon welcome the ninth Bourbon Steak location to its Delray Beach location.

The Delray Beach restaurant is the first Palm Beach County location for James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina, known for his Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name and founder of the Mina Group, a group of more than 30 international restaurants in partnership with Andre Agassi, including Orla, International Smoke, StripStreak and Michael Mina at the Bellagio.

Atlantic Grille to close in Delray Beach after more than a decade

On Monday, July 15, the Seagate will close its signature restaurant, Atlantic Grille, which opened in 2009. The move marks the beginning of a series of renovations that will take place in the coming months, including new guest rooms, a renovated lobby and updated meeting spaces.

When complete, Bourbon Steak’s revamped 6,000-square-foot, 310-seat space will feature a 34-seat bar, an outdoor patio and a private dining room seating up to 24 guests. The restaurant is expected to open in late 2024, following the May opening of Bourbon Steak at the JW Marriott Essex House New York.

According to Alex Schnoeller, president of The Seagate, the addition of Bourbon Steak — Mina’s ode to the classic American steakhouse — is intended to create a distinctly upscale experience for hotel guests and locals alike.

“Our hotel guests, and the many discerning guests who flock to Delray Beach, have created a demand for a Michelin-rated restaurant led by an award-winning chef,” Schnoeller tells The Palm Beach Post. “We also believe Bourbon Steak will bring a much-needed vitality to the picturesque Atlantic Avenue beachfront area… and we are thrilled to bring this exciting new restaurant to our hotel, and to the residents of Delray.”

Seagate recently welcomed Dmitriy Kakuschke, who has led the kitchen as executive chef at Bourbon Steak Nashville since its opening in 2018. Moving forward, Kakuschke will serve as executive chef at Bourbon Steak Delray Beach, overseeing the culinary teams for the hotel’s beach club, yacht club and golf club while directing seasonal menus.

Renovations at The Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach Continue with Clubhouse Update

The 154-room Seagate Hotel & Spa recently completed a major renovation of The Seagate Golf Club. In December 2023, the property will open its Joe Lee-designed 18-hole golf course and practice facilities, as well as a renovated 41,064-square-foot clubhouse featuring a dining room serving lunch, brunch and dinner.

As part of ongoing property-wide renovations, the Seagate will soon dramatically overhaul its two-story, 250-seat, 3,500-square-foot oceanfront clubhouse. Established in the 1950s and located at 401 South Ocean Boulevard, the Seagate Beach Club is open only to members and hotel guests.

The original structure was damaged during Hurricane Wilma in 2005, resulting in a new two-story clubhouse, which closed in May for additional upgrades. It is scheduled to reopen in October.

The project will feature architectural and interior design updates by New York-based Dash Design, including a renovation of the first-floor dining room and cocktail bar — both enhanced to maximize beach and ocean views — while the second floor will serve as both a dining and bar lounge with seating for cocktails and small bites.
