Driver’s Apology Turns into Arrest After Traffic Violation Uncovers String of OffensesDriver’s Apology Turns into Arrest After Traffic Violation Uncovers String of Offenses A reckless driver who narrowly missed a police car faced severe consequences after a traffic stop revealed a series of violations. Officers from Radford Road Police Station noticed a Toyota Corolla making a dangerous turn, nearly colliding with their vehicle. The driver’s hand gesture of apology only drew attention to his lack of a seatbelt. Upon questioning, the officers discovered the 22-year-old man was driving without insurance. Subsequent vehicle checks yielded a concealed lock knife and a quantity of cannabis. A roadside drug wipe tested positive for cannabis, leading to the driver’s arrest. He was taken into custody and later released under investigation pending blood test results. PC Dan Bird, the arresting officer, commented on the chain of offenses: “The driver’s reckless driving, followed by his lack of seatbelt, compelled us to stop him. The subsequent discovery of illegal weapons and drugs highlighted the seriousness of his actions.” Despite driving outside a police station, the driver’s blatant disregard for road safety resulted in a serious offense. “Our priority is to ensure the safety of our communities,” Bird stated. “We will not hesitate to prosecute offenders who pose a danger to others.”

A driver who almost crashed into a police car was left to regret his driving after officers pulled him over and discovered a string of offences.

Response officers stopped the Toyota Corolla (circled in red) after it cut a corner outside Radford Road Police Station in Nottingham, almost causing a collision with an oncoming police car.

The driver apologized using a hand gesture, with officers inside the police car then spotting he was not wearing a seatbelt.

They pulled the car over to speak to the driver about the seatbelt violation, with subsequent vehicle checks finding he was driving without insurance.

The 22-year-old man found himself in further trouble when officers found a lock knife inside the car along with a quantity of cannabis.

He then tested positive for cannabis following a roadside drugs wipe at the scene, in Gauntley Street on Sunday evening (7 July).

Officers arrested the driver and took him into custody for questioning. He was later released under investigation pending the results of a blood sample.

PC Dan Bird, who made the arrest, said:

“The driver was making a right turn into Gauntley Street, having just come down a side road, and dangerously cut the corner.

“Had I not slammed on the brakes, there would have been a head-on collision. The offending driver waved his hand to indicate an apology, but the manner of his driving and the fact he was not wearing a seatbelt meant we had no option but to pull him over.

“It’s a good job we did as we went on to discover a string of other offences, including possession of an illegal weapon and drugs.

“He was driving without a licence so the beggar’s belief he would drive in that manner outside a police station.

“Keeping people in our communities safe is our number one priority and we will always look to take action against offenders, as demonstrated by this arrest.”
