During their meeting with Prime Minister Neiphiu Rio, the NSF underscored the vital role of the ILP in combating illegal immigration and safeguarding the indigenous identity, culture, and demographics of the Naga people. They expressed regret over the failure of past administrations to effectively enforce the ILP. Emphasizing the exclusion of Dimapur from the ILP regime, the NSF attributed it to the rise of illegal immigration in the district. They advocated for the immediate revocation of the suspension order and the establishment of monitoring cells at crucial entry points to strictly implement the regulations. In the context of government appointments, the NSF acknowledged the formation of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) for merit-based recruitment. However, they raised concerns about alleged secret appointments in various departments. Drawing upon information obtained through RTI campaigns, the NSF revealed discrepancies that indicate the continuation of this practice and its corrosive effect on the integrity of the governance system. They urged the Chief Minister to swiftly address the issue and put an end to such appointments.

Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the state government to bring Dimapur district under the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime and take measures to eliminate secret appointments in government posts.

The NSF made its appeal through a request to Prime Minister Neiphiu Rio during their meeting on Tuesday at his office.

During the meeting, the NSF stressed the importance of the ILP in controlling illegal immigration and protecting the identity, culture and demography of the Naga people.

The NSF regretted that successive governments over the past decades have struggled to properly implement the ILP.

The exclusion of Dimapur district (formerly) from the ILP regime, as evident from the suspension order dated June 2, 2023, has created a dangerous haven for illegal immigrants, the report said.

The NSF urged immediate withdrawal of the ILP suspension order for Dimapur and suggested setting up of monitoring cells at key entry points to enforce the regulations in all district headquarters.

In the matter of appointments to government posts, the NSF recognised the constitution of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) for merit-based recruitment to Grade III posts.

However, they expressed concerns about alleged secret appointments in several departments.

“The federation has discovered numerous discrepancies through the RTI campaign that indicate this practice is continuing and undermining the integrity of our system of governance,” the report said.

The NSF urged the CM to take decisive action and put an end to these secret appointments.
