The pub has been closed since March, but will reopen later this year after an extensive refurbishment that will preserve and restore its historic features. Downstairs, the pub boasts a large central bar, an open kitchen, and a secluded courtyard. Upstairs is a private dining area for up to 40 guests with its own bar. About the Walcot Group The Walcot Group, owned by Martin and Debbie Still, has a proven track record in the hospitality industry. They previously owned the award-winning Pear Tree in Whitley, Wiltshire, and the Methuen Arms Pub and Hotel in Corsham, Wiltshire. In 2019, they opened the 150-seater Walcot House in Bath, and currently operate three other restaurants and a butchery in the South West. Statement from Martin Still “We are delighted to be returning to our roots as an innkeeper with The White Hart,” said Martin Still, Director of the Walcot Group. “It is a beautiful, much-loved pub and we look forward to putting it back at the heart of the Widcombe community.” The White Hart is a welcome addition to the Walcot Group’s portfolio, and the refurbishment is eagerly anticipated by the local community. The pub is expected to reopen later this year, offering a blend of historic charm and modern amenities.

A historic Bath pub is set to undergo a major makeover under new owners. Built in the 1700s, The White Hart is a Grade II listed building in Widcombe.

It has been closed since March, but now Somerset’s Walcot Group has bought it in a rapid expansion in the south-west. The new owners said the pub will undergo an extensive refurbishment to preserve and restore the site’s historic features before reopening later this year.

Downstairs the pub has a large central bar, open kitchen and secluded courtyard, while upstairs is a private dining area for up to 40 guests with a bar.

In 2019, the Walcot Group opened the 150-seater Walcot House in Bath. The company currently operates three restaurants in the South West, as well as a butchery.

Group Directors Martin and Debbie Still previously owned the award-winning Pear Tree in Whitley, Wiltshire, and the Methuen Arms Pub and Hotel in Corsham, Wiltshire.
