Joy Reid’s Call for Democratic UnityJoy Reid’s Call for Democratic Unity MSNBC host Joy Reid has urged Democrats to unite behind their nominee, regardless of who it may be, in order to prevent a second term for Donald Trump. In a TikTok video, Reid expressed her willingness to “vote for (President Joe) Biden in a coma” to keep Trump out of the White House. She acknowledged that some within the party are clamoring for a younger candidate, but emphasized the importance of party unity. Reid cautioned that changing candidates at this stage could have electoral and legal consequences. Republican strategist Bruce Bartlett warned that replacing Biden could be politically damaging, while conservative groups have vowed to challenge any potential replacement’s ballot status in court. Reid stressed that while Republicans are rallying behind their candidate despite his controversies, Democrats cannot afford to let internal divisions undermine their chances of victory. She pointed to the fact that Biden’s campaign is facing pressure from donors and pundits, who have criticized his performance and questioned his fitness for office. Despite these concerns, Biden’s campaign has maintained that he will not withdraw from the race. In an interview with ABC News, he addressed concerns about his age and sought to reassure voters about his health and cognitive abilities. Ultimately, Reid’s call for unity serves as a reminder that Democrats must put their differences aside and focus on defeating Trump in the upcoming election. By uniting behind a single candidate, they can increase their chances of securing victory in November and preventing a return of Trump’s divisive policies.

MSNBC host Joy Reid said she would “vote for (President Joe) Biden in a coma” to prevent another term for Donald Trump. She called for unity within the party as some want to push Biden off the ticket.

In a TikTok video addressing public calls by some Democrats to replace their party’s top candidate, Reid said she would vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of who that ultimately ends up being. However, she advised the party to unite behind a candidate.

“Tell me who the nominee is going to be,” Reid told Democrats. “Let me know, when you’re done fighting amongst yourselves, who I should vote for in November to keep Hitler out of the White House.”

While some Democrats, including at least one congressman and key advisers such as James Carville, are calling for a younger candidate with a better chance of beating Trump, others note that switching candidates may not be electorally advantageous for Democrats.

“I think all those who are nominating another candidate are grossly underestimating the political costs of changing horses in the middle of a river,” Republican economic adviser Bruce Bartlett wrote on X.

Additionally, replacing Biden could pose legal complications, with the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups vowing to challenge any potential replacement’s place on the ballot in courts across the country, which could prove a costly battle.

Reid, who noted that she “doesn’t even really like” the man, stressed that while Republicans are rallying behind their candidate despite felony convictions, allegations of sexual assault and massive unpopularity, Democrats can’t seem to keep the partisan battle a secret.

Other MSNBC personalities have followed the pressure on Biden from donors and pundits, criticizing his debate performance and questioning his fitness for the job on the air.

Biden, whose campaign insists he will not be expelled, spoke to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Friday night to assuage concerns about his age.
