Tragedy Strikes in Johnson County: Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Hit-and-RunTragedy Strikes in Johnson County: Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Hit-and-Run On Thursday evening, tragedy struck Johnson County when a pedestrian was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident. Around 11 p.m., 36-year-old Joshua Willet was walking east on the sidewalk along W 95th Street near Hadley Street. As he approached a private driveway, he reportedly stumbled and fell to the edge of the road. Moments later, a passing vehicle struck him, leaving him critically injured. Witnesses reported that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but later contacted the Overland Park Police Department to cooperate with the investigation. Paramedics swiftly transported Willet to a local hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Officer John Lacy, the Police Public Information Officer, stated that the Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the crash. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact 913-890-1437. This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety and the consequences of irresponsible driving. JOHNSON COUNTY—One person was killed in a crash in Johnson County shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday evening.

A pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Joshua Willet, was walking eastbound on the sidewalk on W 95th Street, east of Hadley Street, Officer John Lacy said.

In a private driveway, the Willet came to rest on the edge of the road and was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident. EMS transported Willet to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle later contacted Overland Park police and is cooperating with the investigation.
