Speaking at Rural Housing Week, Mark said: “I’m a Kingsbridge native so it’s great not having to move. I really enjoy the area. The views here are absolutely stunning. I have a really nice plot here. It’s really nice, comfortable, new, modern and easy to maintain.

“I am really enjoying my home. I have got back on the property ladder under the shared ownership scheme which has been great. From a shared ownership perspective I cannot recommend it enough. I have bought a new home and I have no worries. LiveWest have been very good and everything I have done with the Aftercare team has been great.”

The housing provider remains committed to building more homes in rural areas across the county, with LiveWest developing 12 new homes in Dunkeswell, 11 in Bradworthy and eight in Marlborough this year.

Rural Housing Week, organised by the National Housing Federation, takes place from 1st to 5th July to promote the work of housing associations in rural towns and villages across the country. The aim is to highlight the investment that housing associations make in rural communities and the role they play in providing a lifeline to local people in our market towns and villages.

Gareth Jones, Development Director for LiveWest, said: “Building homes in rural areas changes lives and helps strengthen communities. Rural Housing Week is an opportunity to talk about how rural housing developments provide vital homes for local people and highlights how vital new homes are to supporting thriving rural communities and services.

“House prices everywhere, including in rural areas, continue to rise. That’s why our commitment to affordable housing is so important to give people the chance to own a new home and to maintain vibrant rural communities. Our development plans mean we will be working in a wide range of rural communities across the South West to deliver homes that people can afford to live in.

“In addition to our ambitious plans to build around 766 rural homes over the next three years, we are also focusing on their energy performance to ensure that all our new homes are energy-efficient, comfortable homes for our customers.”
