Ty Burrell, who portrayed the endearingly awkward and optimistic father, was on the verge of quitting acting after years of unsuccessful auditions. However, just before securing the role in “Modern Family,” Burrell landed the break he desperately needed. Rumors of a “Modern Family” reboot have been circulating, sparked by Instagram posts from cast members. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sofia Vergara have hinted at the possibility, with Vergara jokingly suggesting a holiday special due to Ed O’Neill’s age. While ABC has not officially confirmed any plans for a reboot, fans eagerly await news of their beloved characters’ return. If a reboot does materialize, “Modern Family” can currently be streamed on Disney+ or Hulu, offering viewers the opportunity to relive the heartwarming and hilarious moments of the original series.

Modern family blessed us with perhaps one of the most beloved characters in sitcom history in the form of the perpetually awkward but ridiculously optimistic Dunphy family dad. Played by Ty Burrell throughout the show’s hilariously funny eleven seasons, Phil Dunphy—devoted family man by day, genius inventor of the Real Head Scratcher™ by night—has always been the life of the party.

After Burrell’s brilliant, indelible impact as the iconic character, it’s simply impossible to imagine the show without his lame jokes or his innocent blunders as Phil. Surprisingly, though, there was a time when that almost didn’t happen.

Ty Burrell nearly ended his career Modern family

Before his remarkable breakthrough on the ABC sitcom, Ty Burrell—like most actors in the industry—tried to climb the grueling Hollywood ladder. But the Dawn of the Dead The star was in an endless rut, apart from a few guest appearances and supporting roles, which were not enough to keep his career going in the long run.

That winter before (Modern Family) pilot season, my wife and I seriously talked about how I could do something different. Auditioning was just too much for me. I had used up all my determination turning 40 and auditioning.

You do five or six auditions a week and most of them are rejections. My wife got rejected early on. She still loves performing, but the business is so weird and hard. I was in a similar boat and I didn’t know if I could do it.

But fortunately, Burrell managed to land a cherished role on the mockumentary sitcom for which he would receive multiple Primetime Emmy nominations and win two. And the rest is history.

Is a Modern family A reboot in the offing?

On May 23, Jesse Tyler Ferguson – who played the tense and precise Mitchell Pritchett on the show – sparked speculation (mostly hope) among fans after posting an Instagram story about the Modern family set. “I haven’t seen this view in a while,” the award-winning actor wrote with a photo of the Dunphy family home in the background.

While this may just be an innocent trip down memory lane, rumors of a possible reboot have been swirling around the internet, especially after another cast member hinted at something similar a few months ago.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonSofia Vergara, who played the hotheaded Gloria Delgado, claimed that she “a little more time” before you make a Modern family Restart. “Well, but we don’t have much time because Ed (O’Neill) is old, so…” she joked before settling for, if only for nothing, a special holiday deal. “Yes, we should do that,” she said.

Even if there is a reboot, ABC has not confirmed anything about it yet, so we’ll just have to wait and hope for the best.

Modern family can be streamed on Disney+ or Hulu.
