These incidents highlight the ongoing issue of dangerous and unlawful driving on Irish roads. Recent Road Accidents The driver’s behavior comes amidst a series of tragic road accidents. Most recently, a mother and her eight-year-old daughter were killed in Co Mayo, while three people were rushed to hospital after a collision in Co Westmeath. These incidents serve as sobering reminders of the importance of responsible driving and the devastating consequences of reckless behavior on the road.

A driver has been given penalty points and a fine for speeding while driving with flat tires.

According to An Garda Síochána, officers from Naas seized the car after it was driven at 75km/h in a 50km/h zone with unsafe tyres.

The Gardaí posted a message about the incident on their official social media channels, which prompted a response from the public.

An X user commented: “Someone was driving here (with these tires) 75 km/h?! Good heavens.”

Another described the seizure as “fantastic news,” while another noted: “People don’t care and are putting lives at risk.”

Gardaí also recently stopped a car being driven by an unaccompanied driver with no insurance.

The driver was given fines and penalty points and the car was impounded.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Wicklow South West arrested an unaccompanied pupil as part of the national day of action on Tuesday (2 July) with the help of RSA Ireland.

The tires and brake discs on this car were in “poor condition” and the driver had no valid tax or insurance.

The incident comes after a number of road accidents have already occurred across the country, the latest being the death of a mother and her eight-year-old daughter, known locally as Aisling Moore and Abbigael Moore-Tournié, in Foxford, Co Mayo on 2 July.

Three people were rushed to hospital yesterday (July 3) following a two-car collision in Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, with a man in his 80s dying at the scene.

A 50-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle accident – ​​which also took place in Castlepollard – on July 2.
