A male driver operating a vehicle westbound on East Main Street lost control and veered off the passenger side of the road. The car struck several objects along its path, resulting in a catastrophic impact that tore the vehicle in half. Tragically, the unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services. According to the police report, the cause of the driver’s loss of control is currently under investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit. One person was killed Wednesday morning when a vehicle was torn in half after colliding with objects along the road, Columbus police said.

The unidentified man was driving westbound on East Main Street near the intersection with Wilson Avenue at approximately 1:50 a.m. in 2013 when he lost control of his car, drove off the passenger side of the road and struck several objects along the road, according to a police report.

According to a police report, the impact tore the car in half. EMS pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

The Columbus Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.
