University Park, Pa. – Head coach James Franklin and the Penn State football program have announced the jersey numbers that four incoming freshmen will wear for the 2023 season.

Kaytron Allen

Zane Durant

Jameial Lyons

No. 10

Nick Singleton

– Running Back –

No. 18

These numbers have special significance for the incoming players: *

Allen

chose No. 44 to honor his late father, who wore the same number during his football career. *

Durant

selected No. 14 in tribute to his favorite basketball player, Chris Paul. *

Lyons

opted for No. 10 as a nod to his high school coach, who wore that number. *

Singleton

chose No. 18 as a way to pay homage to his favorite player, running back Ezekiel Elliott. The newcomers will be looking to make an immediate impact for the Nittany Lions in 2023. Allen and Durant are expected to provide depth at the wide receiver position, while Lyons and Singleton are both potential starters at linebacker and running back, respectively. Penn State opens the 2023 season on September 2nd at home against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

No. 10: Ta’Quan Roberson (Quarterback)

Roberson, a transfer from UConn, chose No. 10 as a nod to his late brother, Quentin, who wore the same number during his playing days at Penn State.

FitzSimmons, a freshman from St. Augustine, Fla., chose No. 16 to honor his high school coach, Joey Wiles, who wore the same number during his playing days at Florida State.

No. 19: Nick Singleton (Running Back)

Singleton, a freshman from Shillington, Pa., chose No. 19 because it is the number worn by his favorite player, Saquon Barkley.
