The events leading up to the two world wars are repeating themselves. If the United States persists with its isolationist policies, it will face its own demise as its adversaries unite against it while it abandons its former allies, all in the pursuit of “Making America Great Again” (MAGA). Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled that he will not cease at Ukraine. The next targets are Estonia, Latvia, and Poland. China is issuing similar threats to Taiwan, while North Korea and Venezuela are doing the same to their neighbors. In less than six months, the US will hold its presidential election, and polls suggest that former President Donald Trump will reclaim the presidency. This development would signal the conclusion of the American experiment in democracy. Historians specializing in the decline of democracies, including Ruth Ben Ghiat and Timothy Snyder, as well as international relations experts Richard Haas and Ann Applebaum, have all issued warnings. White grievances, demographic shifts, and the fear of being supplanted by non-whites, a fear that was exacerbated by the election of a black president, are fueling this movement in the United States. Their remedy is to elect a convicted criminal who has been accused of rape, racism, fraud, and pathological lying. He is enamored with autocrats and dictators and has hinted that he would tear up the Constitution and overturn the progress made during the civil rights movement upon his return. He takes full credit for revoking Roe v. Wade, intends to do the same with the Affordable Care Act, and will dissolve NATO. God bless America, but they are unaware of the reasons. THE EDITOR: War is not coming. It is already here. The events that preceded the two world wars are being repeated. If carried out, America’s policy of isolation will be its undoing, as its enemies unite against it while it turns its back on its old allies, all in the name of making America great again, aka MAGA.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated he will not stop at Ukraine. Estonia, Latvia and Poland are next. China is sending similar warnings to Taiwan, as is North Korea to its neighbors, while Venezuela is trying to annex parts of Guyana.
The US election is less than six months away and polls show former President Donald Trump will return to the White House. If that happens, it will spell the end of the great American experiment in democracy.
History professors with expertise in the demise of democracies, such as Ruth Ben Ghiat and Timothy Snyder, have warned, as have international relations experts Richard Haas and Ann Applebaum.
The movement in America is fueled by white grievances, changing demographics and the fear of being replaced by non-whites, a fear that was heightened when a black president was elected.
Their solution is to elect a convicted felon whose resume includes rapist, racist, snake oil salesman, and compulsive liar. He is obsessed with autocrats and strongmen and has indicated that when he returns he will tear up the Constitution and roll back all the progress made during the civil rights era. He has taken full responsibility for repealing Roe v Wade, promises to do the same with Obamacare, and will withdraw from NATO.
