According to the warrants, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old De’Andre Vereen, targeted drivers on several occasions in the Windy Hill neighborhood. On March 16, Vereen is accused of approaching a Domino’s pizza delivery driver and pointing a gun at him before demanding his money and food. The driver complied, and Vereen fled the scene on foot. Two days later, Vereen allegedly robbed a U.S. Pizza delivery driver in a similar manner. The driver was held at gunpoint and forced to surrender his money and pizza. On March 22, Vereen struck again, this time targeting a Papa John’s delivery driver. The driver was held at gunpoint and robbed of his money, cell phone, and pizza. Police were able to track down Vereen using surveillance footage and witness statements. He was arrested and charged with three counts of armed robbery. The warrants also indicate that Vereen admitted to committing the robberies and said he was targeting delivery drivers because they were easy targets. Vereen remains in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. A bond hearing is scheduled for later this week.
