Both men were charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. SECAUCUS, N.J. — According to Secaucus police, two men armed with guns entered a hotel room at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel in February, claiming to be police officers and demanding money from sleeping hotel guests.

Police say that on February 8 (a Thursday) at 4:22 a.m. they entered one of the hotel rooms (they did not know the victims), pointed a gun at the people sleeping in the bed, said they were police and demanded money.

One victim claims they pulled out a gun and threatened to “pistol whip” the victims, then the two men fled with the victim’s money and some personal belongings.

Secaucus police were called there for a 911 call of an armed robbery. After a five-month investigation, members of the Secaucus Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Anti-Crime Unit identified the suspects as Cristopher Molina Herrera, 30, and Rikelvin DeLeon Diaz, 33, both of Newark.

Secaucus Police Department detectives arrested Molina Herrera on June 27 at his workplace in Clifton. The next day, June 28, Secaucus police arrested Diaz at his workplace in Elizabeth.

Both arrests occurred without incident.

Both men were charged with Robbery (2C:15-1a(1)) and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery (2C:5-2/2C:15-1a(1)). They remain in the Hudson County Jail.
