Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course menu prepared by the restaurant staff. Lady Captain’s Speech Lady Captain Patricia Britton welcomed members and guests, including visiting Lady Captains from neighboring clubs. She shared her journey in golf, beginning with lessons in the 1980s and joining Murvagh Golf Club in 2008 through the Woman and Sport initiative. Appreciation and Prizes Patricia expressed gratitude to her supporters, including her husband, fellow committee members, team captains, and staff. She emphasized the competitive spirit of the ladies and hoped they would achieve success in the upcoming season. The competition winners were announced, with Bried Kelly taking first place with 43 points. Other prize winners included Elaine Carron, Mary Harley, and Charlotte Caldwell. Charity Donation and Entertainment €610 was donated to Patricia’s special charity, Education in the Gambia. The event concluded with music by Jodie Gallagher.

The course was well presented and looked fantastic, it was a day where you could enjoy golf regardless of the score. The ladies and guests enjoyed a delicious three-course menu thanks to the chefs and staff in the restaurant.

During her speech, Lady Captain Patricia Britton welcomed members, staff, family and friends and visiting Lady Captains Bernie and Breege from Bundoran and Ballybofey/Stranorlar Golf Clubs respectively. She said she was thrilled to see so many in Murvagh on her special night.

The first time Lady Captain Patricia came to Murvagh was in the late 1980s when she and Helen O’Shea took lessons from Maire O’Donnell, but it was not until 2008 that she joined Murvagh Golf Club through the Woman and Sport initiative . She said a lot of credit goes to Ursula Miller, Bernie Tracey and Pru Hamilton, as many who joined that year and the following three years made their mark and are still here as members.

Patricia thanked everyone who supported me during her year as Lady Captain. She especially thanked her husband Pat, who has been amazing no matter the task. Her former captain Mary Harley, vice-captain Ger Giblin, the ladies committee, everyone on the sub-committees, team captains and everyone who competed on the teams.

“What a competitive bunch of ladies and hopefully they will bring home some silverware this year,” she said. She also thanked: “Michele who ran our winter links, Rena our junior convenor, child protection officer Mary, the management team our head green keeper Paul, green convenor Eamon and the staff who worked with the Paul McGinley design team. She thanked Grainne, the manager, Katrina, their accountant, Sean and all the shop staff, Caroline, Kathy Enda and all the bar and restaurant staff. Leslie, the PRO, who is always so encouraging to all of us.”

Patricia also thanked photographers John Fallon and Emer O’Shea for their fantastic photographs which feature in the prizes, all her prizes had something special she felt as they were by local artists living in Craft Village Donegal Town and Ardara. €610 was donated on the day to her special charity Education in the Gambia. She congratulated the winners beforehand and handed it over to the competition secretary Tracey Clarke to announce the prize winners
