This announcement came as a shock to both employees and customers alike. The restaurant, specializing in Italian cuisine, has been a part of the Kilmarnock community for some time. It is the sister company of Nardini’s ice cream parlor and Marini’s fish and chip shops. An employee revealed the closure on social media, expressing sadness and gratitude towards customers. They said: “Tony Macaroni will close its doors on Sunday 30th June.

“It is with a heavy heart and very unexpected.

Join us this weekend for your last supper at Tony’s.

“We would like to thank all our customers for their support and we hope to welcome them back in the near future.”

A third commented: “That’s so sad, we always enjoyed the food and atmosphere.”

While a fourth added: “Terrible that people are losing their jobs.”

The company has sponsored Livingston’s stadium, which was hilariously dubbed ‘The Spaghettihad’ by Scottish football fans, for the past nine seasons.
