Around 10:11 p.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to a 911 call reporting a fall victim at a home in the 100 block of East Ross Avenue. Paramedics arrived to find the elderly male victim had fallen down a complete flight of stairs, resulting in significant injuries. Due to the severity of the man’s injuries, a medical helicopter was requested. The LifeNet medical helicopter landed in a field between Kaper Drive and Industrial Drive, adjacent to the Cary Village Hall. An ambulance transported the victim to the landing zone where he was transferred to the helicopter. The man was subsequently airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a trauma center. At the time of transport, it was unclear whether the victim’s injuries posed a threat to his life.

An elderly man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after falling down a flight of stairs at a Cary home Thursday evening.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded to the 100 block of East Ross Avenue in Cary on Thursday around 10:11 p.m. for a 911 call of a fall victim.

Cary Fire Protection District Communications Specialist Alex Vucha said paramedics arrived and discovered an elderly male victim had fallen down the stairs.

The man had fallen down a full flight of stairs in the house.

He suffered serious injuries in the incident and a medical helicopter was called.

Vucha said the LifeNet medical helicopter landed in a field between Kaper Drive and Industrial Drive, near the Cary Village Hall.

An ambulance transported the victim to the landing zone and he was transferred to the helicopter.

The helicopter then flew the male victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a trauma center.

According to Vucha, it was not yet known at the time of the transport whether the man’s injuries were life-threatening or not.
