Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club Holds Charter ObservanceBowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club Holds Charter Observance (Bowmanstown, PA) – The Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club recently held its 48th annual Charter Observance at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company Hall. Lion Lyle Augustine Jr. welcomed guests and introduced former District Governor Gary Bender and his wife, Lion Melissa. The 2024 Scholastic Achievement Award recipients were named as: * Brayden Hosier, Palmerton Area High School * Ciara Berhel, Lehighton Area High School * Michael Bowman, Carbon Career & Technical Institute (Lehighton – Computer Design) * Trevor Stroup, Palmerton (HVAC) Each recipient received a plaque and a $600 reward. Representatives from the local volunteer fire companies were recognized: * Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company: Jay Reid * Parryville Volunteer Fire Company: Sue Homm * East Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company: Dave Weiner Each fire department received a check for $400. Lion Lyle Augustine Jr. welcomed all attendees and introduced the honored guests, former District Governor Gary Bender and his wife Lion Melissa.
The 2024 Scholastic Achievement Award recipients were announced as follows: Brayden Hosier, Palmerton Area High School; Ciara Berhel, Lehighton Area High School, and Michael Bowman, Carbon Career & Technical Institute (Lehighton – Computer Design) and Trevor Stroup (Palmerton – HVAC).
Each recipient received a plaque and a $600 reward.
Fire department representatives from each of the three local volunteer fire companies were announced: Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, Jay Reid; Parryville Volunteer Fire Company, Sue Homm; and East Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company, Dave Weiner.
Each recipient received a check for $400 each.

Bender thanked the club for the invitation, and Lion Melissa Bender, to participate in the club’s Charter Observance Banquet. He congratulated the recipients of the Student Achievement Award and wished them well in their future endeavors, and thanked the representatives of the Volunteer Fire Company and the Fire Police for their dedicated service to their community. Bender thanked the outgoing officers for their service and welcomed the new officers who charged them to uphold the Lion motto, ‘We Serve’, and wished the Club much success in its future endeavors.
