She is an accomplished singer, songwriter, content producer, and actress, having starred in films like “Unthinkable” and “Weird Romantic Comedy.” Along with her new role on the Top 30, Zawadi will host a weekday timeslot from 7 pm to 10 pm. Queenie Grootboom assumes Zawadi’s previous 10 pm to 2 am slot, reinforcing her reputation as a veritable force in broadcasting. “Queenie has an unshakeable presence and a deep connection with our audience,” said Jay. “Her resilience in broadcasting from home for the past four years is a testament to her strength and determination.” These line-up changes, effective July 1, align with Algoa FM’s ongoing content renewal. Other notable additions include Sam Ludidi, who will host “Sunday Lunch Live” from the Hemingways studio in East London, and Carly Fields, who brightens weekday mornings from 5 am to 6 am. Popular Algoa FM presenter Kea Zawadi is set to become the first female presenter of the award-winning Algoa FM Top 30 broadcast on Saturday mornings between 9am and 12pm.
She takes over from JP Botha, who is moving abroad.
“Along with a sharp approach and new imaging for the show, Kea will inject her young and vibrant self into Saturday mornings, bringing a fresh energy while transforming a previously male-dominated arena,” says Algoa FM managing director Alfie Jay.
The two-time nominee (as radio host) Zawadi is also a singer, songwriter, content producer and actress who has played roles in Unthinkable, Weird romantic comedyAnd 13 weeks to find Mr Right.
Her move to the Algoa FM Top 30 comes with a new timeslot during the week, with the slot being 7pm to 10pm from Monday to Friday.
Queenie Grootboom moves to Zawadi’s previous slot and presents the 10pm and 2am show from Sunday to Friday mornings.
“Queenie has an unmistakable approach, personality and bond with our audience.
“It’s fair to say that Queenie is also one of the strongest women in broadcasting, having overcome significant challenges while broadcasting from home over the past four years,” says Jay.
“These line-up changes are in line with Algoa FM’s ongoing content renewal and will come into effect on July 1,” Jay added.
It was recently announced that renowned SuperSport presenter Sam Ludidi had joined the channel to present Sunday Lunch Live from Algoa FM’s Hemingways studio in East London.
Carly Fields has taken over the early morning 5am to 6am to give listeners a cheerful start to the day.
She also presents the popular Carly on Algoa FM on Saturdays from 7pm to 10pm.
