Hyderabad closed at 10:30 PM – NO NIGHTLIFE
The Telangana government issued orders for businesses to close at 10:30 pm daily in a bid to significantly improve the state of peace and order in the city. The guidelines have been issued by the Hyderabad Police in view of the frequent night crimes that have been taking place in the city. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy examined the state of peace and order in the city before taking any decision.
Moreover, the police have requested that anyone passing by on the road in the late hours of the night should not accept rides from others. Alcohol users in public areas will also be subject to severe penalties. Since many people nowadays choose to go out and dine in the late hours of the night, this is a major blow to the city’s nightlife.
The reactions to the ruling are not uniform. This decision is especially criticized by business people who rely on night operations and IT workers who work night shifts. A few people felt that many visitors spend their evenings at the city’s charming and other well-known locations, which helps local businesses.
Businessmen said that while the state should regulate crime, it should not come at the expense of people’s ability to do business. They asked the authorities to leave them open until midnight. According to IT staff, many people working night shifts get their food from roadside food stalls late at night. Closing places like this at 10:30 PM would cause problems for many people who work at midnight. It remains to be seen whether the government will take these demands into account or uphold its ruling.
