Every year in the EU, almost 14,000 lives are lost to cervical cancer, and more than 16,000 new Hepatitis B infections are reported. With the collective goal of vaccinating 90% of girls against HPV and increasing the number of Hepatitis B vaccinations, there is a historic opportunity to eliminate cervical cancer and other cancers caused by these viruses. Vaccination has proven safe and successful. A study in the UK showed that the HPV vaccination program reduced cervical cancer rates by 90% among women in their 20s who were offered vaccination at ages 12 to 13. The EU Fight Against Cancer Plan sets a goal to vaccinate 90% of girls by 2030 and significantly increase coverage for boys. The recommendation aims to increase and monitor the vaccination rate against HPV and Hepatitis B viruses (HBV), with attention to social inequalities and injustices. Tackling misinformation about vaccines is crucial, and this requires improvements in health literacy. The EU will support Member States in developing and upgrading electronic vaccination registers. Vaccines Europe emphasizes the importance of up-to-date vaccination registers. The integration of medical equipment in Poland receives new guidelines from the EMA, but the industry sounds cautious.
