The first time I saw the distinctive JewBelong bright pink billboard with a message advocating not only Jewish safety, but also Jewish understanding, I thought: how clever! It felt like a gift “from above,” and in these treacherous times of skyrocketing anti-Semitism, especially since October 7, every gift feels like a gift – but so much more.
Every “sighting” on a billboard, including those that travel by truck, and recently by water, brings a sense of relief and comfort because someone “out there” understands the looming threats and is taking concrete steps to save hearts and minds far and wide. far to influence, and not just Jewish. In short, they don’t just sing for the choir, but try to reach, as the founder puts it, ‘the mushy middle’.

On June 6, hundreds of people gathered at Brae Burn Country Club in Harrison, NY, for a presentation by Gottesman about the essential message of the billboards and the need for as many people out there as possible.

“Every amount is important,” Gottesman said.
“I don’t care where you are in your Jewish journey,” Gottesman said. “We have a message for everyone. It’s an expensive battle – 200 billboards cost about a million dollars – (and they also have to fight graffiti), but it’s so worth it and so important.”

“I go for the ‘mushy middle’; those people who can still be influenced by the messages. Too many people allow themselves to be influenced by the other side.”
