Court Appearance and Sentencing Matthew Traynor, 28, of Edenderry Drive, Armagh, appeared before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Sunday afternoon. He was found guilty and fined €200, as well as being disqualified from driving for two years. Incident Details Traynor was observed by Gardai driving at 80mph in a 60mph zone in Rossbracken at 10.30am on Sunday. A strong odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 48 micrograms per 100 ml of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 22 micrograms. Defense Attorney’s Statement Traynor’s attorney stated that he had stayed with participants from a rally association on Saturday evening and was driving his boss’s van at the time of the incident. The attorney noted Traynor’s cooperation with the police and his apology for his actions. Judge’s Ruling Judge Éiteáin Cunningham imposed the penalties, stating that Traynor was driving at an excessive speed and had a high blood alcohol level.

An Armagh man caught in his boss’s van in Donegal on Sunday morning has been banned from driving for two years after he was found to be more than twice the legal drink-driving limit.

Matthew Traynor appeared before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old man, of Edenderry Drive, Armagh, was spotted by Gardai in Rossbracken at 10.30am on Sunday driving at 80mph in a 60mph zone.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that gardai then prevented the Citroen Berlingo from being driven by Traynor.

Officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car.

Traynor was arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station. A breath test showed a concentration of 48 micrograms of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 22 micrograms.

Sergeant Collins said Traynor “cooperated fully and apologised”.

Mr Patsy Gallagher, barrister for Traynor, said his client had stayed with some from the rally association on Saturday evening and was driving his boss’ van.

“He was stopped, he was shown the gun and the rest followed,” Gallagher said.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham convicted Traynor and fined him €200. Traynor was also disqualified from driving for two years.
