Atlantic City, New Jersey – On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, a brave Atlantic City police officer rescued a teenage boy and several animals from a house fire. According to officials, Officer Jeremiah Springer responded to a report of a house fire on the 1000 block of Arctic Avenue at approximately 5:40 AM. Upon arrival, Springer observed heavy smoke coming from the residence. Without hesitation, Springer entered the burning building and located a 14-year-old boy trapped on the second floor. Springer safely evacuated the teen from the house and provided medical assistance. During a search of the building, Springer discovered multiple animals, including three cats and two rabbits. He carefully rescued the animals and brought them to safety. “Officer Springer’s quick and selfless actions saved both the teenager and the animals from great danger,” said Atlantic City Police Chief James Sarkos. “His bravery and dedication exemplify the exceptional service that our officers provide to our community.” The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Atlantic City Fire Department. The teen and the rescued animals were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Officer Springer’s heroic actions have been praised by the Atlantic City community and beyond.
