Arlington Woman Charged in Fatal Beltway Crash

– Virginia State Police have charged a 35-year-old Arlington woman with reckless driving after she allegedly caused a fatal crash on the Beltway. On Monday, September 26, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on the Inner Loop of the Beltway, near mile marker 158 in Fairfax County. According to the investigation, a 2020 Honda Civic, driven by the Arlington woman, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Camry. The impact caused the Camry to roll over several times. The driver of the Camry, a 52-year-old man from Alexandria, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 48-year-old woman from Alexandria, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Arlington woman was not injured in the crash. She was arrested and charged with reckless driving. State police are continuing their investigation into the crash.

Arlington Woman Charged in Beltway Crash

– A 35-year-old Arlington woman has been charged in connection with Tuesday morning’s crash on the Capital Beltway that injured a Virginia State Trooper. Joanna F. Hatch of Arlington was identified as the driver of the Jeep Cherokee that struck a tractor-trailer and patrol car, causing minor injuries to the trooper. She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Police also identified 43-year-old Erica D. Bernard of Albright, Virginia as the driver of the sedan involved in the crash. Bernard was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, obstruction, possession of a schedule I or II substance, refusing a blood/breath test, and unlawfully stopping a vehicle on a highway. She was treated for minor injuries and then taken to the adult detention center. The crash occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday on the northbound lane of the Capital Beltway/I-495 near the Little River Turnpike/VA Route 236 exit in Annandale. An officer who responded to the scene was struck by the sedan while standing next to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The trooper was taken to Inova Fairfax for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the sedan remained in his car and was also treated for minor injuries.A 35-year-old Arlington woman was charged in a Beltway crash that injured two people, according to Virginia State Police. The crash happened around 10 p.m. Saturday on the inner loop of the Beltway near the Route 1 exit in Fairfax County. Police said a 2008 Toyota Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a 2018 Toyota RAV4. The impact caused the RAV4 to overturn. The driver of the RAV4, a 33-year-old Fairfax man, and his passenger, a 33-year-old Fairfax woman, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry, identified as Stephanie N. Hill, was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
