Washington, D.C. – The United States Capitol Building and all federal buildings in the District of Columbia are flying their flags at half-staff in honor of the Honorable John Mason, who passed away on January 10, 2023. Representative Mason served the 12th Congressional District of California from 2019 until his death. He was a tireless advocate for his constituents and a respected leader within the Democratic Party. During his time in Congress, Representative Mason made significant contributions to legislation on healthcare, education, and the environment. WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. flags are being flown at half-staff on all federal buildings and grounds, including the White House and the U.S. Capitol, in honor of the late Representative Jackie Walorski. Walorski, a Republican from Indiana, died in a car accident on August 3, 2022. She was 58 years old. The order to lower flags was issued by President Joe Biden on August 4, 2022. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Walorski’s burial. Walorski was a member of the House of Representatives since 2013. She served on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Walorski was a strong advocate for veterans and for farmers. She was also a supporter of President Donald Trump. Walorski’s death is a tragic loss for her family, her friends, and her constituents. She was a dedicated public servant who will be deeply missed.
