The Beacon of Freedom For decades, the elite media has enjoyed a comfortable and lucrative monopoly on the most prestigious jobs in the industry. But their days of dominance are coming to an end as a wave of talented migrants from around the world is now challenging their stranglehold on power. According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, the number of foreign-born journalists working in the United States has increased by more than 50% in the past decade. And these newcomers are not just filling entry-level positions. They are increasingly being hired for top editing and management roles. This influx of talent has been a boon for the media industry. Migrants bring with them a wealth of diverse perspectives and experiences that have helped to enrich the quality of journalism. They are also more likely to be fluent in multiple languages, which is essential for covering a globalized world. But the elite media is not happy about this changing landscape. They have always seen themselves as the gatekeepers of the profession, and they are now feeling threatened by the rise of migrants. In recent months, there have been a number of articles in the elite media complaining about the increasing presence of migrants in the industry. These articles often portray migrants as unqualified and undeserving of their success. One particularly egregious example is an article that ran in the New York Times in June 2022. The article, which was written by a white male editor, argued that migrants were taking away jobs from “real” journalists. The article was widely condemned for its racism and xenophobia. The elite media’s whining about migrants is nothing more than sour grapes. They are simply upset that they are no longer able to control who gets to work in the industry. The rise of migrants in the media is a good thing. It is a sign that the industry is becoming more diverse and inclusive. And it is a reminder that the best journalists come from all walks of life.Elite Media Whines as Migrants Take Top Jobs

American journalists are suddenly complaining about the influx of British journalists into their top media jobs, ignoring the displacement and demotion of many American professionals by millions of imported visa workers. “Elite media executives are being handed some of the biggest jobs in American journalism,” said a critical article on media industry site TheWrap.com. The article continued: > some wonder whether the (hiring) choices are what American democracy needs. “Everyone is shouting that there is a crisis in local news,” said Jeff Jarvis, a journalism professor at CUNY. “I say we also have a crisis in national news, in this day and age when fascism is upon us.” “Right-wing Brits running the Washington Post? Things from nightmares,” said a tweet by Dan Froomkin, on PressWatchers.org. Among the British arrivals is Will Lewis, the new CEO of Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post. “It feels very much like a plunge into the abyss,” said SFGate.com columnist Drew Magary. “Lewis is British. NEVER trust a British media manager,” Magary wrote. “If Lewis wants to be successful, he will have to have the journalists with him all the time,” said Guardian columnist Margaret Sullivan. “Right now they’re not. And that means a course correction (by Lewis) is in order,” said Sullivan, who previously worked at the Washington Post and the New York Times as a media critic. “They are reaping what they sow,” replied John Miano, a lawyer who has defended American professionals when their jobs were handed over to imported contract workers. “We’ve had presidents import workers (through the H-1B program), and we get silence from the media about that,” he told Breitbart News, adding: > The H-1B, no matter how you look at it, this is a program designed to replace Americans with cheap foreign workers. You look at the (legal) code–that’s the whole purpose of this program…(but) you won’t find a description like that in the US media. No one (establishment journalist) would dare say that this program is intended to replace American support workers. The economic impact of migration is enormous, especially for white-collar Americans, but receives little media attention, Miano said: > If you look at the numbers, there is a direct correlation between US wages and immigration. Immigration used to be about 250,000 per year and at that level wages rose with productivity. Starting in about 1970, we had a huge increase over the Immigration Act of 1965…and American workers have seen very little increase since then. Immigration is one of the causes–there are many more causes that can all be blamed on immigration!––but immigration levels should be a fraction of what they are. Breitbart News has reported on the visa worker programs, including their direct impact on media jobs. The government’s visa programs for foreign graduates with intermediate skills include the H-1B, L-1, J-1, OPT, H4EAD, CPT, TN, O-1, and E-2 programs. Government-provided foreign managers and their ethnically networked employees account for a large share of entry-level and middle-management jobs in science, academia, computers, software, accounting, healthcare, fashion, architecture, engineering, marketing, recruitment, media, and much else. The federal programs damage the status of American professionals in the workplace, reduce salaries and career opportunities for American college graduates, and diminish the national innovation that would make rising salaries possible. “From 2000 to 2003, we were expected to roll out every software project perfectly and without defects,” Rex, a veteran software developer from Dallas, told Breitbart News. “But after they started with the H-1Bs, they now expect large amounts of defects, and they’re okay with that,” he said. The visa workers know they will lose their visas and be sent home if they disagree with their managers, he said: > They will do as they are told because there is a visa barrel. You know Americans are going to say, like at Boeing for example, ‘Hey, you can’t have one sensor that you’re betting all these people’s lives on, and you can’t write code to make it take a dive if the sensor stops it.++.” These (visa workers) guys will just put their heads down and say, “Okay, whatever you said.” I’ve seen that time and time again. In some cases, “once they get citizenship and get their full-time (IU.S.) job, they will say what they think,” he said, adding: > But I’ve never seen it anywhere with anyone who was an Indian contractor, H-1B, or you know, whatever kind of visa they have…Usually they stay that way if they have Indian managers, and you know, it’s not likely they will raise their voices. Some of them are actually quite good, and they have good ideas, but they are afraid to express them. This replacement policy by investors and their top executives has caused stock prices to rise, resulting in enormous economic and generational costs for the American middle class and their children.

Migrants Surpass Elite in Top Jobs, Sparking Outrage

A growing number of migrants are securing high-ranking positions in the workforce, a trend that has sparked outrage among the elite and mainstream media. “It’s an outrage,” exclaimed a prominent media mogul. “These migrants are taking our top jobs and destroying our economy.” However, data from various industries paint a different picture. Migrants often possess specialized skills and experience that domestic workers may lack. In the tech sector, for example, migrants have played a crucial role in driving innovation. “Migrants bring diversity and fresh perspectives to our workforce,” said a CEO in Silicon Valley. “They’re essential to our success.” Despite the economic benefits, the elite remain adamant in their opposition. They argue that migrants are taking jobs that should rightfully belong to domestic workers. “This is a disgrace,” said a politician. “We must protect our own people first.” The media has echoed these sentiments, amplifying the outrage with sensationalist headlines and biased reporting. “Migrant Invasion: They’re Stealing Our Jobs!” blared one newspaper headline. However, the media’s attacks have sparked backlash from immigrant rights groups. “This is dangerous rhetoric that fuels division and hatred,” said a spokesperson for the American Civil Liberties Union. “Migrants are not the enemy.” The debate over migrants in the workforce is far from settled. As the number of migrants in high-ranking positions continues to grow, it remains to be seen if the elite and media will adjust their attitudes or continue to fight against the changing demographics.Elite+media+whines+as+migrants+start+taking+their+top+jobs+%26%23124%3B++The+Beacon+of+Freedom
