Renton, WA – A driver was taken to the hospital on Tuesday, May 10th, after crashing their vehicle into a home located on Valley Highway in Renton. According to the Renton Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:00 PM. The driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve off the road and crash into the front of a house. First responders extricated the driver from the wreckage and transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No one inside the home was injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police suspect that speed and impairment may have been contributing factors. The crash caused significant damage to the front of the home, including a shattered window and a partially collapsed wall. The homeowner was not present at the time of the incident. Valley Highway was partially closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene and repaired the damaged home. On Saturday, June 9th, at approximately 7:30 PM, first responders were called to a car versus building crash in the 3900 block of Valley Highway (SR9) in Van Zandt. Upon arrival, Whatcom County Fire District 16 Fire Chief Hank Maleng reported that the front of the vehicle had crashed into a concrete block home, with no injuries reported inside the residence. Firefighters extracted the injured driver and passenger from the vehicle by removing its front doors. The driver, a 27-year-old Deming woman, and the passenger, a 23-year-old Deming man, were transported via ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2011 Honda CR-V traveling northbound on Valley Highway left the roadway and struck the building. It is unknown whether the occupants were wearing seat belts. However, drugs or alcohol were determined to be involved in the incident. According to Snoqualmie Fire Department Public Information Officer Rich Dotson, the two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 38000 block of Valley Highway Southeast. Dotson said a Hyundai sedan was traveling southbound on Valley Highway when it crossed over into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota 4Runner. The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to spin out and crash into the front of a nearby home. The Toyota came to rest in the middle of Valley Highway. The two occupants of the Hyundai, a man and a woman, were transported to Overlake Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota, a woman, was not injured. Dotson said the cause of the collision is under investigation.
