Marco Island Center for the Arts’ Arts Center Theater has announced the upcoming production “Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End,” presented by MariLou Productions.

This one-woman show, written by sisters Allison and Margaret Engel, will take the stage on July 27 and 28 at 3 p.m.

The play offers a delightful and comedic take on one of America’s most beloved voices. With humor and insight, Bombeck captured the frustrations of her generation and asked the poignant question, “If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?” Through her humor, Bombeck stood up for women’s lives and revealed truths in the most unexpected ways.

The title role is played by Louise K. Cornetta, a talented actress nominated for a 2022 Broadway World Award for Best Solo Performance for her portrayal of Erma Bombeck at the Center for Performing Arts in Bonita Springs. Cornetta graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in theater and has been captivating audiences in Southwest Florida since 2022. Her credits include leading roles in productions such as “Hollywood Arms,” “Vanities” and “Love Letters” in Marco Island, as well as appearances with the Naples Studio Players and in Bonita Springs.

MariLou Productions, an all-female production company founded by the late Marilee Warner and Louise K. Cornetta, is dedicated to bringing compelling theatrical productions to locations throughout Southwest Florida. This production of “Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End” has special meaning as it honors Warner, a dear friend, business partner and deeply missed talent.
