Both individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Emergency crews responded to the affected areas and began clearing debris and restoring essential services. Hundreds of homes and businesses remain without power as of this writing. “It was like something out of a movie,” said witness Sarah Jones. “The wind was so strong, it lifted cars off the ground and slammed them into trees.” The National Weather Service confirmed that the storm was a tornado with an estimated EF-2 strength on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. It traveled a path of approximately one mile, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The City of Wichita has declared a state of emergency and has activated its emergency operations center.
